Pickathon 2013: Marco Benevento, Felice Brothers, Andrew Bird

There are many festivals out there that aim to bring in as big a crowd as possible by booking hot, in-demand acts. Portland, Oregon’s Pickathon goes in a different direction. Pickathon founder Zale Schoenborn goes after bands that play “good music” despite any labels attached to them or their ability to sell tickets. On the smaller end of the music festival scale, for Pickathon’s 15th annual festival, which will take place on August 2 – 4 at Pendarvis Farm just outside of Portland, Schoenborn and his team are looking to attract 3,500 attendees.

Today, the lineup for Pickathon has come out and features a lot of bands we’ve mentioned over the past 12 months from Andrew Bird to the Divine Fits to The Devil Makes Three to Sharon Van Etten to Sallie Ford & The Sound Outside. None of these acts are huge, but they all create “good music” fitting in perfectly with Pickathon’s mission. We’re happy to see that HT faves The Felice Brothers, Marco Benevento and Yellowbirds are also set to play Pickathon this August.

Here’s the just-announced lineup for Pickathon 2013…
