My Morning Jacket To Play Free Show In Atlanta

Ever since My Morning Jacket ended their extended New Year’s Run with a benefit show in Asbury Park, New Jersey on January 2nd, the band has been on a break while front man Jim James promotes his solo debut. While Jim James will play a number of festivals this spring and summer, there’s been no word of future MMJ gigs. That changed today when the group announced it will play a free show in Atlanta on April 5th as part of the NCAA Big Dance Concert Series.

Earlier this month we told you about a few other performances that are part of the NCAA Big Dance Concert Series which takes place in Atlanta during the Final Four of the Men’s College Basketball Tournament. Dave Matthews Band, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals and Sting are teaming up for the Sunday finale of the series, set for Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park. MUSE, Flo Rida, Ludacris, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Yacht Rock Revue are set to play the park on Saturday. MMJ are the first artist to be announced for Friday the 5th, the first day of the three-day music festival.
