Video: Janelle Monáe and The Roots – Little Wing

How do you promote a posthumous album by an artist who passed away over 40 years ago? In the case of Jimi Hendrix, whose People, Hell & Angels LP shot towards the top of the Billboard charts recently, you don’t have to look far to find someone willing to cover his music. On last night’s episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, soul singer Janelle Monáe performed Little Wing with The Roots to help promote People, Hell & Angels – though it wasn’t Monáe or The Roots who stole the show.

Janelle’s guitarist, Kellindo Parker, did Jimi proud by delivering a jaw-dropping solo in the middle of Monae and The Roots’ rendition of Little Wing. Between the solo, Monae’s impressive vocals and the always solid The Roots, this version of Little Wing was a winner on all fronts. Take a look…
