Tour Dates: What The Brothers Sang

It’s unfortunate that The Everly Brothers aren’t as fawned upon by the current generation of music fans as the acts that were heavily influenced by them. The duo, who are arguably the most successful recording duo of all-time, were known for their close harmony singing which fused early rock and roll with country and folk, and have been name checked by everyone from Simon & Garfunkel to The Beach Boys to The Beatles. As a way of paying homage to the work of Phil and Don Everly, the duo of Bonnie “Prince” Billy and Dawn McCarthy, who grew up listening to the Everlys’ music, released What the Brothers Sang earlier this year, a 13-track tribute record that serves as a great jumping off point for a new generation of music lovers. Bonnie “Prince” Billy and McCarthy have lined up a short summer tour that kicks off on July 17 at Vagabond Blues in Palmer, Alaska and includes a high profile appearance at this year’s installment of the Newport Folk Festival.

If you’re not into a night of Everly Brothers covers, then maybe you’ll be interested in one of these recently announced tours…
