Video: Mavis Staples – I Like The Things About Me

As the old expression goes “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” After taking home the Grammy for Best Americana Album for her 2010 release You Are Not Alone, Mavis Staples decided to stick with the formula that got her there for the follow up by once again tapping Wilco front man Jeff Tweedy to produce. Tomorrow the legendary 73-year-0ld singer will release her 13th studio effort, One True Vine, via ANTI- Records. The ten-track effort, named for an outtake from Wilco’s 2007 release Sky Blue Sky, which is the closing track on the album, features a mix of gospel songs, covers and a handful new originals penned by specifically for Staples by Nick Lowe, Low’s Alan Sparhawk and Tweedy.
