We’re going to ease into summer this week with a healthy piece of a stellar Ryan Adams and the Cardinals gig from Germany in 2006. The absolutely blissful Magnolia Mountain that opens the show, with its long spacey intro and soaring jam, is a must hear – reason enough to grab this download, even before it lands in really nice, tapping version of Hallelujah.
I picked out a couple mid set tunes, including New York, New York, a brilliant Peaceful Valley and Dear John, before turning to the end of the show: Cold Roses, Bird Song, Wild Flowers and Let It Ride. That setlist pretty much speaks for itself, but even so the performance and recording here are pretty special. It’s especially dynamic for a straight soundboard, and really glows on a stereo where it has room to breathe and swell. Happy summer, and as always, enjoy!
