Heavenly Jams Band 5/16/2004: Crash Mansion, NYC, NY

On 6/16, at NYC’s Crash Mansion, a colorful New York cross-section of religious Jews, Dead Heads, and diehard Allman Brothers fans came together to celebrate the wonderfully diverse sounds of guitar virtuosos, Oteil Burbridge and Yosi Piamenta.

This intriguing project billed as the “Heavenly Jams Band,” was “born” out of Yosi’s introduction to Oteil during the Allman Brothers most recent “March Madness” string of gigs in NYC. Both musicians are deeply committed individuals, sharing common ground both spiritually, and musically.

With only three hours to rehearse, the band threw together a set of rock classics and Piamenta standards. The show might best be described as a dreamy psychedelic haze of classic rock, funk, Oriental Hebrew/Arabic music, jazz, with a hint of Blues. A little something for everyone.
