Jeff Tweedy Announces Solo Album & Tour

If there ever was an artist we most would like to see release a solo album aside from Bono or Angus Young, it would have to be Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy.  Well with Wilco taking most of 2014 off from touring and recording, Tweedy has announced a solo album due out later this year.

Tweedy has also released dates for a solo tour during which he’ll play some of the new material. Kicking off June 5th in Detroit, the run of shows will take Tweedy and his new backing band through 14 stops before wrapping up at the Newport Folk Festival. The band will consist of Jeff’s own son Spencer Tweedy on drums, The Horse’s Ha’s Jim Elkington on guitar, bassist Darin Gray of Dazzling Killmen, and Liam Cunningham on keyboards. Their live show will be “loosely staged in at least two parts,” according to a press release: Tweedy and the band performing material from the forthcoming solo record, and the man solo playing Wilco and Uncle Tupelo material acoustically.
