Amy LaVere Debuts “Rabbit” From Luther Dickinson Produced ‘Runaway’s Diary”

Amy LaVere, whose transient wanderings around the South, led her to create the gorgeous new album Runaway’s Diary, that came out 5/27 via Archer Records/30 Tigers. The album recounts her experiences running away from home, though “home” was never permanent – her family moved 13 times, and Amy migrated from Louisiana to Detroit to Nashville before settling in Memphis and into her groove as a songwriter and upright bassist.

‘Runaway’s Diary’ is produced by fellow Memphian Luther Dickinson, who joined Amy, Valerie June, Shannon McNally and Sharde Thomas to form folk supergroup The Wandering and has collaborated often with Amy, most recently on stage at SXSW.   In addition to the eight tracks she wrote herself, she included songs by Townes Van Zandt, John Lennon, Ned Miller and local Memphis songwriter Mike McCarthy.
