Renowned Bassist Christian McBride joined Banjo player extraordinaire Bela Fleck and the classical quartet Brooklyn Rider for a night of eclectic music, that ranged from bluegrass to jazz to classical crossover at the intimate Victoria theater in NJPAC, Newark. The first set was a duo performance of Bela Fleck and Christian McBride, who per Christian hadn’t played together since they jammed one night in Nashville over 15 years ago. The 2nd set brought Bela together with NY based quartet, Brooklyn Rider (Johnny Gandelsman, violin Colin Jacobsen, violin Nicholas Cords, viola Eric Jacobsen, cello). The quartet had recorded a companion piece with Bela on his concerto album, The Imposter, that came out in 2013, and has toured regularly with Bela since the release. Christian McBride came on towards the end to play on a composition by Colin and the night culminated with a bluegrass number.
