SONG PREMIERE- decker. – “Cellars”

Arizona’s decker. exceeds both lyrically and musically with their adventurous sound that is not quite definable – and that’s a good thing. Forget the desert and landscapes of their home state, decker. truly captures something imaginative that goes beyond geography. Led by the one-of a kind soulful and edgy vocal styling of Brandon Decker, his namesake band truly communicates something deeper that rewards the introspective music fan,, but they also can bring out their playful side.  decker.’s palette of folk, gospel, rock and psychedelia is upped a couple antes on their new album  Patsy due February 17, 2015. Glide is proud to premiere Patsy’s nine minute plus stunner “Cellars,” a track that is a monumental wave of sound that within its various textures and segments, builds dramatically to a gratifying finale.

‘Cellars’ is and has been since the day it was written my favorite song to play,” explains Decker. “For a while there we started our sets out with it – which seems funny, this nine minute song. But the thought was; if you don’t like this then we’re probably not a good fit for you and we can simply accept that now. But if you feel this, we can strap in and really enjoy the evening together. I feel it encapsulates the whole essence of Patsy the album: It’s moody, veering in different directions, with this tension, and sadness but with this resilient attitude.”

Patsy is bookended  by “O.D.B.” and “Ol Dirty Revival,” two themed tracks that lean gospel revival over psychedelic guitar folk. Musical outliers here, in a way similar to Dylan’s “Positively 4th Street,” they fit decker.’s vision of people betrayed by the outer, unknown dwellers of their social, artistic and professional circles.

W166Patsy is the follow up to 2013’s much-hailed “desert gospel masterpiece,” Slider. Recorded at WaveLab Recording Studio (Neko Case, Iron & Wine, DeVotchKa) in Tucson, Patsy veers from quiet shuffles to noisy guitar jams and horn-driven ballads, but never becomes quixotic or difficult. The Phoenix New Times says, “The band’s intensity, its ability to tap into spooky Old Testament terror as well as pastoral Verde River amble, is what sets it apart from the ever-crowded indie folk populace.”

decker. will be on the road tour extensively in the new year and the first run of dates are confirmed and can be found below, wiht many more to be added. A popular live act, decker. has shared the stage with Local Natives, Dr. Dog, Deer Tick and Keller Williams.
