There was a recent rumor spread across the blogosphere that indie rock faves Clap Your Hands Say Yeah were calling it quits (’tis the season for alleged breakups…), but now their management attest that they are simply taking a break. What is true is that CYHSY have postponed recording of a future album and have no foreseeable shows scheduled except for one Brooklyn gig on February 13.
With all the down time, members of the band have been working on several side projects that allow them to dabble in music, books, art, and tribute bands. So, there you have it – they are still a unit, but strangely enough, the words of Carrie Bradshaw keep ringing in our ears: a break is a hop, skip, and a week from a break-up. Let’s hope their fate lies not in a fictional TV show.
