As our resident jester Neeko points out, the Yardbirds’ version contains the original lyrics that Page stole without credit from folk singer-songwriter Jake Holmes: “I have a copy of the original recorded at, like, The Gaslight in 1966 maybe…its the same riff, same melody. Tsk Tsk Jimmy!” I’m not sure if either the date or the venue is correct in Neeko’s sentence (D&C wasn’t released by Holmes until 1967), but I just love someone the idea of someone “tsking” Jimmy Page.
