Like, Flames? Shine A Light Trailer Released

Recently we told you the release of Shine A Light, Martin Scorsese’s Rolling Stones concert film, has been delayed until April. That delay really hurts after watching the amazing trailer for this flick. Shine A Light seems to be more a documentary about making a concert film than a concert film itself: Scorsese himself is all over the trailer, including a hilarious give-and-take with one of Mick Jagger’s handlers.

Now that’s not to say the trailer completely ignored the music that the Stones played at the Beacon back in the fall. Towards the end of the trailer we’re treated to glimpses of Jack White singing Loving Cup, Christina Aguilera singing Live With Me and Buddy Guy ripping up Champagne and Reefer (we also spy a peak of Keith Richards singing You Got The Silver). We can’t wait until Shine A Light sees its ultimate release in April, but for now at least we have this trailer to keep us excited:

  1. Leave it to Scorsese to make a concert film about The Rolling Scorseses. I love the guy, and I think The Last Waltz may just be the greatest thing since bread sliced by width, but good god mang, try making a film without your yapping head running throughout it. That being said, this trailer looks badfuckingass, and I’d trust that bushy-browed fuck with my life.

  2. Yeah, he’s not even all jacked out anymore. Geez Marty. Anyway, the trailer is sick obviously. Is this for theatrical release or straight to DVD?

  3. valid, but imo, i would rather see their dialog and the creation of the event more than a straight 3 hour concert.

i wish phish would have done one of these for their festivals. I’d rather see a documentary of the Lemonwheel with concert footage than another Brooklyn concert release with 4 minutes of backstage filler.

  4. Actually, loput, I agree completely…I’m not saying I want straight concert footage. Absolutely I’d love to see behind the scenes stuff woven into a concert film — it just amazes me that Scorsese puts *himself* into everything. Look, I’m am egotistical self-promoter as well, but not everything revolves around me. Just most things.

And Oliver, it’s coming out in theaters and IMAX…read that “Coming Soon” piece we linked to in Previously on HT.

  5. I just hope there is a ton of backstage footage of Keith Richards . I love trying to interpret what he is saying.
