City Winery Announces Additions to Weir World- Six Days of Concerts & Fare Thee Well Viewing Party

Bob Weir, The Garcia Family, Tri Studios and Sweetwater Music Hall announce additions to WEIR WORLD, six days of concerts and special events, June 30-July 5, already underway at City Winery Chicago, 1200 W. Randolph St.

When the Grateful Dead’s Fare Thee Well concerts were announced City Winery wanted to give fans more than just the three shows at Soldier Field. Knowing Bob Weir was an investor and key figure at the Sweetwater Music Hall in his hometown of Mill Valley, CA, a union between the clubs was only natural, and thus Weir World was born. In an effort to tie all the various threads of the Grateful Dead’s history into one week’s worth of events, City Winery and Sweetwater also reached out to the Garcia Family and they are onsite offering exclusive Garcia art, memorabilia and more, including a guest appearance from Jerry’s daughter, Trixie Garcia. The shows are booked (full list below), but special guests continue to get added daily, these are special events and everyone from Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo and Jenny Lewis to Matisyahu, the Disco Biscuits’ Marc Brownstein, Joan Osborne and Steve Kimock want to get involved. With pre-Dead shows, late night post-Dead shows, brunch shows, rare footage of Garcia, Weir and the rest of the band from Justin Kreutzmann’s home files, collector’s edition merch, food served all day and more, City Winery is the place to be when not at Soldier Field. Everything happening this week is all about The Grateful Dead.

In addition to daytime, primetime and late-night concerts with surprise special guests, City Winery offers a unique opportunity for fans to experience the sold-out shows at Soldier Field. City Winery will live stream the Grateful Dead shows in the concert venue; the HD stream will be projected with a 7000k DLP projector on a 7′ x 12′ screen and audio will stream through the state-of-the-art Meyer sound system. Individual tickets are on sale now. The Weir World All Access Pass – which includes admission to all Weir World events at City Winery June 30 – July 5 plus a Commemorative Weir World Poster – is available for $400.
