Optimism reigned among the Particle People when the band convinced Scott Metzger and Ben Combe to come aboard in March 2006. But continued mediocrity trumped this renewed optimism, and Metzger wisely jumped ship shortly thereafter. Now comes word that Combe is leaving the band as well, and judging from his thinly veiled parting shots, it doesn’t appear to be altogether amicable. Particle’s lost three guitarists in less than two years, so the time may have finally come for Steve Molitz to permanently hitch his wagon to Phil Lesh’s star.

Great to hear about Phil’s new band…this line made me smile:
“Greene, a touring singer-songwriter, seems to be the perfect match for Lesh, grounding the elder’s spacier moments with his taste for melodic grit and tight songcraft.”
Was on the fence due to ridiclous ticket prices, but I’ll def catch a show in NYC now.
I saw that epic Tom Petty movie at the NYFF (it’s four hours and twenty minutes long–coincidence?). It’s pretty damn good considering, but THEY SCREENED IT IN MONO. I’m still mad about that. Here’s a link, if I may: Runnin’ Down a Dream. I also have a review of Todd Haynes’s Dylan movie, I’m Not There.
omg – that Onion video…so funny, im almost in tears right now.
I’m running out of people to fwd that too
time for Charlie Hitchock to come back
Phil Lesh and Friends is a great combination of
talented people. Jackie Green’s current CD American Myth
is fantastic. Different style than what he has been doing.
A great addition to Lesh’s Friends.
