If the traditional gift for one’s first anniversary is paper, what exactly do you get a website? Our suggestion: barrels of cash. Tomorrow marks the one-year anniversary of this here rag, and over the course of the next week there’ll surely be some celebratory self-sucking in honor of this unfortunate milestone.
When the Glide Magazine folks brought us on board a year ago, we tentatively agreed to a schedule of “at least three posts a week.” Since then we’ve published 1,048 posts — not bad for two guys with fairly demanding day jobs — and you’ve responded with 4,351 comments. It’s truly been a fun and exciting year, as it often is when you don’t take anything too seriously. So this week we’ll be bringing you some special features marking the occasion, but first let’s take a look at The Week That Was…
- The New Deal’s drummer loves himself some SciUNTZology
- LCD Soundsystem plays the best set of the night on Randall’s Island
- In Rainbows causes some instaboners: Readers react to Radiohead
- Dave Vann caters a sick photo gallery from Hardly Strictly Bluegrass
- snoe.down? no.down! moe. cancels its annual March festival
- The B List gets morbid: Murder Was The Case looks at 10 dead musicians
- Our collaboration with LiveDownloads.com begins with some Panic
- Jennifer Hartswick sits down with us to discuss her new album, True
- Ryan Montbleau does the same, talkin’ ’bout Pleasure on Friday
- We revisit Ween’s sincere tribute to the Dead: Stella Brown
- And teach your iPod some new tricks with these downloads: Grousing The Aisles, MP3 Boot Camp, Stormy Mondays and the Friday Mix Tape
So stay tuned for a weeklong soirée of self-masturbatory festivities, and stick around for Dave Vann’s amazing gallery from this weekend’s Echo Project…
