James Brown’s Garage Sale Party

Turns out that the James Brown left behind more the some of the funkiest grooves around when he died in 2006. The Godfather of Soul also left growing mounds of legal bills and overdue estate taxes. So, come this August, venerable auction house Christie’s will be selling off quite the selection of the Hardest Working Man In Show Business’ personal belongings. Here’s a some of our favorite items from from the 18 page list:

A signed picture of James Brown and George Bush
A photograph of James Brown and George Bush, Jr inscribed “Killings is Out, School’s In”
His 1983 25th Annual Grammy Award
His Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Award
36 keys to various cities
A fur walking stick inscribed “James Brown – Godfather of Soul”
A letter written to Princess Di, handwritten by James on the back of Delta in Flight service paper
His birth certificate
A poem written to James Brown, handwritten by Muhammad Ali

Conspicuously absent from this list is James Brown’s hot tub.

  2. JB is the f’in man. the Godfather of soul is not necessarily the godfather of couth.- ie- Nothing spells class to Princess Di like Delta in-flight paper….haha.

    these are times I wish i was filthy rich. I would try to snag most of this collection.
