Top Bunk: Live Nation’s Next Move – Making Bands Pay For Tickets To Their Own Shows?

Now, I’m no hot-shot Wall Street CEO with a fancy car and a corner office, but giving your customer base a reason not to purchase your product usually doesn’t increase sales. Telling O.A.R. and 311 fans that they are taking a huge risk by tailgating at PNC will do two things: 1) Force ticket holding drinkers to drive to the venue drunk (Sweet move) and 2) Keep the money that many kids would have spent on those tickets in their pockets. Now I could make jokes about how seeing 311 and O.A.R. sober will probably do more good than harm to these kids (“Maybe they’ll finally realize how crappy the music is!”), but I’m not going to. (Whoops).

But seriously, I’m done with this industry. Anyone who works at any of these conglomerates should just give up now. You’ve totally lost it. And by “it” I mean everything: Your mind, your money, your future earnings, our respect, and soon, your job.

  1. Nice work on the list! More tips for Live Nation to improve their street cred:

    – No kids on antidepressants allowed at Counting Crows concert
    – Require socks be worn at all times at the All Good festival
    – Must be one guy for every girl at John Mayer concert (Attendance projected: 48; boyfriends with no backbone: 24)
    – Only wine served at My Morning Jacket at Radio City

  2. Three words that every music fan needs to hear: BOYCOTT LIVE NATION!! They are single-handedly ruining the “big’ concert business between outrageous ticket prices and lame policies like this. I’m thankful I live in an area (Boulder, CO) where I have plenty of alternate choices; and feel for those who may not have them.

BOYCOTT LIVE NATION until there is NO MORE LIVE NATION!!!
