Briefly: Classic TAB Warmup in Billyburg

Trey Anastasio’s Classic TAB lineup of Strangefolk drummer Russ Lawton, Unknown Blues Band bassist Tony Markellis, and Viperhouse keyboardist Ray Paczkowski are preparing for their appearance at the All Points West Festival on August 10 by playing a warmup gig at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on August 7. We’re still awaiting full details on this bad boy, but according to the event’s Ticketmaster page tickets go on sale this Saturday at Noon.

The venue only holds a little over 500 people, so tickets should sell out within 11 seconds or so. Best of luck phans, but in the meantime let’s hear about your favorite TAB moment from 1999 – 2004. I’ll start with mine, and then you can leave a comment below. I’d say my favorite TAB moment was hearing the debut of Push On Till The Day with its delicious horn lines, intense build up and Phish-y lyrics at the Orpheum Theater in Boston back on February 21, 2001. And you?

UPDATE: Tickets will be available through a real time presale beginning tomorrow at 10:00am (eastern time) and ending Friday, July 25th at 5:00pm.

  1. so many great solo trey moments i got to see:

5/6/99 acoustic PYITE while whistling landlady part
    5/7/99 guyute acoustic
5/8/99 ALUMNI, and trey plays billy on piano

Did i mention all the electric sets from 99?

  2. “It Makes No Difference” about a month after Coventry at ACL Fest was the most heartfelt sorrowful song I have ever heard Trey sing. Not a dry eye in the house (or on the lawn, I should say). Everything that night was perfect. The “Push On” had me leaping like frog! The “Stash” was sublime. It made me miss Phish less.

  3. Loved the acoustic sets from ’99, but I’d go with Bell Bottom Blues from 5/15/99 – the balcony at the Palace Theatre was violently shaking up and down all throughout that electric set.

  4. Asheville, NC March 2

    Encore:

    Hard Hearted
    Possum
    Yellow Submarine

w/ Mike, followed by parade out the back of the auditorium.

    Great night.

  5. A few moments stand-out for me.

Def the State Theater show in Maine during that first acoustic/electric tour in 99.

Mike coming out to join Trey at Jones Beach in 01 is another highlight

But my all-time fave is the Mikes>Groove with Gordo from Great Woods 6/14/02

Bonus points: The indoor beer garden at the 6/15 VT show the next night. It was pouring that whole day, and everyone 21 was packed inside wearing full rain gear…was like an old reunion. Felt like I knew half the people in there.

  6. Stanley Theatre in Utica, NY on 10-25-02. During Mr. Completely the balcony was raging so hard that PLASTER was raining down on those under forcing the Fire Marshall to come out and stop the show leading the the rest of the show being acoustic and story filled… what a time! Trey’s Freebird story and his “I’ve seen Fishman naked, have you?” story are priceless!

  7. Madison!!!

Trey playing Billy Breathes on piano in sharing the advice he got from Neil Young.

Alumni dedicated to students skipping finals to be at the show

    Acoustic Fluff head

    Somanitin

    please!

  8. Radio City > Rockefeller center Drum Circle

Divided sky with strings @ Webster Hall

    Jones beach 2001

btw peeps, this venue is ~2000 people now
