Behind the high profile facade of a mega rock star- Incubus front man Brandon Boyd hides a big soft spot for charitable causes. Boyd and his fellow Incubus band mates recently created the Make Yourself Foundation, and have raised well over a million dollars for worthy causes including the Red Cross, Surfrider Foundation, Heal The Bay, and Life Rolls On.
Boyd and Incubus launched the Foundation in 2003 and have been steadily raising funds by donating proceeds from band merchandise sales ever since. The Foundation has received acclaim from the press and raked up major accolades including eBay’s Giving Works award. The band has also been working hard on the green-front. Their largest tour to date was able to almost completely offset its carbon footprint.
“It has been really wonderful meeting the people all over the world who’s love of art and music inspire them towards acts of selflessness,” says Boyd about those he’s recruited to support the Foundation.
The Incubus lead singer’s vision for the Make Yourself Foundation sprouted from his desire to make a positive impact. Says Boyd, “It has always been my observation that to live by example is the most admirable way to walk the Earth!” So go ahead and Support the cause!
