We’re truly in the Philathon homestretch, with only tomorrow’s finale to go, and so this week’s Stormy Mondays is a mix drawing from a few different incarnations of Phil and Friends (loosely interpreted). The first is actually from The Dead’s 2004 summer tour, which was essentially Phil, Warren and Jimmy enhanced by the other GD members and Ratdog’s Jeff Chimenti.
This second set opening Terrapin Station is a monster, with Phil right at the core. Following that is Brent Mydland’s very last performance with the Grateful Dead – The Weight – the encore from 7/23/90 – a pretty haunting moment. And we close things out with what people are really looking for: PLQ. From the rehearsals before that first 2000 fall tour comes a ripping Cumberland Blues, followed by a rare snippet of banter. As always, enjoy!
