AfterNews: Clifford Ball/Pearl Jam/Kimock

Jamtopia’s Todd Levy informs us that the release of Phish’s Clifford Ball audio/video package has been pushed back a week to March 3. The soon-to-be-reformed jam titans continue to put out archival releases at a dizzying pace, including Monday’s announcement/release of audio and video from December 30, 1997. Speaking of which, 12/30/1997 should’ve been near the top of my 10 Best Archival Releases of 2008 list. Oops.

  • Pearl Jam raided their vaults to put together an exciting reissue of their debut album, Ten, due to hit on March 24. Longtime Pearl Jam producer and the man behind 70 Volt Parade Brendan O’Brien takes a stab at remixing the album with an additional six tracks including Singles soundtrack star State of Love and Trust, a version of Brother with vocals and the Stevie Ray Vaughan-inspired jam 2,000 Mile Blues.
  • 2008 has been a quiet year for guitarist Steve Kimock, but that won’t be the case in 2009. The progressive axeman has put a new band together cleverly titled Steve Kimock Crazy Engine featuring former Jerry Garcia foil Melvin Seals on Hammond B3. Look for a full slate of tour dates and the complete six-person lineup next month.
