January may be a slow month for seeing shows, but it’s a time when festival announcements get released at a furious pace. Warren Haynes’ Mountain Jam is next on the agenda with the news that the Allman Brothers Band will headline the fifth annual shindig at Hunter Mountain on May 29 – 31.
Considering the festival’s named after the always lengthy, never boring Mountain Jam improvisation by the Allmans, we’d expect an epic version at Hunter. Joining the Allmans on their only Northeast festival appearance of the year will be Mountain Jam favorites Michael Franti & Spearhead, Ray Montagne, Jackie Greene and – of course – Gov’t Mule. Mountain Jam newcomers include Coheed & Cambria, The Derek Trucks Band, The Hold Steady, Richie Havens, Railroad Earth, Porter Batiste & Stoltz, Brett Dennen and The Lee Boys. Girl Talk has signed on to perform a late night set, while jammers Tea Leaf Green, The Macpodz, The Brew and U-Melt round out the initial lineup.
Mountain Jam passes will be available at www.mountainjam.com beginning Monday, January 26. Early bird festival passes without camping will be offered at $129.50, before being raised to the next tier of $139.50. Early bird three-day camping festival passes are being offered at $149.50 and will then be raised to the next tier of $159.50 after that allotment sells out. A limited number of VIP tickets will be offered initially at $349.50. A very small number of RV tickets are available at $175, plus a camping festival ticket.

Like the line up. Hopefully they finally get some good weather this year.
I’ll be there for the third year in a row
