We here at HT sort of pride ourselves on trying to stay on top of new music that would be in our collective wheelhouse. From time to time though a band or two slips under the radar that we’ll eventually stumble upon, case in point the Chicago-based Catfish Haven. Fronted by George Hunter – whose gruff and emotive voice makes him sound uncannily like Joe Cocker – the band released Devastator
The band had a short co-headlining tour with sludgy, rocker Dead Confederate last year and has also shared bills with a who’s who of the current indie rock scene including My Morning Jacket, The Hold Steady and the Cold War Kids. Let’s check out the video for Tell Me…

I first heard about them at SXSW 3 years ago and immediately liked what I heard. Since then i have seen them a few times, the best of which featured a horn section and lead guitar player. The addition of the lead guitar player is what really helped.
