Many music fans were shocked that the late LeRoi Moore of the Dave Matthews Band wasn’t featured in the montage featuring musicians who have passed away since last year’s Grammy Awards. Sunday’s “Encore” segment paid tribute to a slew of fine musicians, but there wasn’t any mention of the sax star and former Grammy winner – and 12-time nominee – or Skynyrd’s Billy Powell or Ron Asheton of The Stooges.
Considering the DMB has been one of the biggest concert draws for well over a decade, they still don’t get much respect from the music industry. The Academy addressed the reasons behind their snub…
“Nearly 250 members of our music community have passed in the last year, and all of them have been listed in the program book for the 51st Annual GRAMMY Awards, including LeRoi Moore. For the “Encore” segment of our annual GRAMMY Awards telecast, unfortunately we are unable to include all of the talented and wonderful people within the allotted timeframe. The Academy recognizes Moore’s contributions to music and music education, and we are deeply saddened by his premature passing.” [TMZ]

BS. I don’t know why the DMB never gets any love.
maybe its because fans of live music are smarter than to watch crap like the Grammys?
that is pretty shocking, he’s a grammy winner!
