Hampton Countdown: Beware The Traffic

For those of you who are heading into the Hampton area later on Friday afternoon, be sure to leave plenty of time to fight traffic. PT user and Norfolk resident BigDun shared the following advisory:

The best camera to view is the 64 Granby St. If traffic is backed up to this point, you have 5.5 miles to the tunnel. As of 245pm on Friday, February 27, traffic is already piling up at this spot. Right now, the backup is clearing around 4th view, but that won’t be the case once the naval base and shipyard begin letting out at 3pm.

This is without Phish traffic!

Anyone traveling next Friday from the cities of Va Beach, Norfolk, Portsmouth or Chesapeake will fight this traffic. You will want to leave very early. I’ve lived here my whole life and the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel (HRBT) is a nightmare. Anyone flying into Norfolk at 4pm or after on Friday, may be in danger of getting to the show late.

All of this is before you even get to the Coliseum exit, which we all know will be an absolute shit show. If you must drive to the show on Friday, be sure to get to the strip as early as possible. Don’t miss the Hampton opener.

  1. CARPOOL LIKE YOU’VE NEVER CARPOOLED BEFORE, PHANS!!!!!

    Also, ride BIKES!
Or use GLIDERS TO COAST IN EFFORTLESSLY.

3 Choices. You decide. The Earth thanks you. And Phish.

  2. Glad these are up here, but they were actually found by bailedwiththehay over on reality-tour.com. PT seems to be pretty comfortable with taking credit for all his tireless local Hampton spy work lately.

  3. RT’er Bailedwiththehay deserves credit for on-site photos/vids and the traffic cam recommendation/find. just a heads up Scotty B. Cheers.
