Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Air Gomez

Despite the long-time urging of a good friend, it really wasn’t until the last few years that I discovered the music of UK indie-rockers Gomez. Everything about these guys should have attracted me long ago – bluesy guitar driven rock influenced by The Stones and The Band, three quirky-voiced singers and a band that has knack for putting on a fiery live show. It’s no wonder that they’ve become stalwarts on the festival scene for years and years.

Gomez recently released their fifth studio album A New Tide – their second on ATO Records. To celebrate, the band stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to perform Airstream Driver, the lead single off their latest release…

Gomez kicks off the European leg of their world tour on April 16 before heading back across the pond for the second run of US dates that includes appearances at both the Mountain Jam and Bonnaroo music festivals.

  1. saw these cats in Ithaca a couple weeks ago. Very good ‘indie’ band.

Really, not that indie at all. But, they def. have a bluesy edge to them that sets them apart.

also, currently on Paladia, the Rothbury Festival in High Def. chose to shoot Gomez’s side stage performance from last year. Check it out if you can!
