Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Byrne’ing Questions

With each passing year the task of coming up with new and inventive strategies to keep things fresh for the masses of people that annually coming back to Manchester must get harder and harder. Among this year’s additions are an on-site Concert Poster Art Exhibit, Photo Scavenger Hunt, On-Site RV Rentals and Tweetaroo. The one that got us the most excited though was the announcement of Bonnaroo’s first ever Artist Curated Stage to be overseen by none other than David Byrne.

The former Talking Heads front man, who is currently in the midst of the tail end of his world tour behind Songs of David Byrne and Brian Eno, has taken over the programming duties of That Tent all day Friday offering up this diverse mix of acts – Katzenjammer, The Dirty Projectors, St. Vincent, Santigold and Ani DiFranco.  As we’ve seen in the past sit-in aren’t for jamband acts only, so fully expect Byrne to be joining The Dirty Projectors for a take on Knotty Pine – the song they collaborated on for the Dark Was The Night compilation album. When Byrne’s curating duties are over, he will head over to the Which Stage for his headlining slot that kicks off at 8:45 PM on Friday night.
