Phish @ Darien: Setlist & Recap

Phish returned to the northeast to kick off a “final four” weekend with a run of shows at some familiar haunts. Tonight, the boys leaned heavily on material from Rift, Junta and Lawn Boy and dusted off the first How High The Moon in over sixteen years as a tribute to Trey’s “idol” Les Paul – who passed away yesterday. Take a look at the setlist…

Set One: Sample In A Jar, Dinner And A Movie, Wolfman’s Brother, My Friend My Friend, Possum, Farmhouse, Sugar Shack, Brian And Robert, David Bowie, Bathtub Gin, How High The Moon, Golgi Apparatus

Set Two: Drowned > Prince Caspian -> Rift, The Horse > Silent In The Morning, Sparkle, Run Like An Antelope > Suzy Greenburg > Fluffhead

Encore: Joy, First Tube

Anyone hit this show up? What did you think?

  1. Average show. Lacked any real energy until Antelope and then finished very strong, just got going too late. Antelope was VERY good though. Drowned was sweet also, maybe the only jam that went anywhere interesting. I loved the old school song selection, it just didn’t work well on the whole, and like I said, the energy didn’t really get going until much too late. First set, I think I enjoyed Golgi the most. Gin was forgettable (not to say bad), Bowie had its moments, good to see Dinner and a Movie, but overall nothing too exciting.

  2. average show??? …… yeah right — you must have had an average buzz (kill) going buddy .. hehe .. that show was AWESOME!! One of the best phish shows I’ve ever been to . they are raising it high .
    (and so professional these days)

  3. ain’t noway that show was average! One of the better Dinner and a Movie out there. The Wolfman’s is sick with a stellar jam. A fantastastic My Friend My Friend. Possum was hot and the Bowie and Bathtub Gin were flat out outstanding! No offense but, If you really think that show did not take off until Antelope you might as well find another band! Go listen to this show again and then rewrite your review.

  4. I also disagree with the average comment, this show was crazy from the beginning..lots of energy and sick jams plus trey and fishman were stellar.

  5. I left Darien feeling like the first set was fun, but nothing too stellar.

However, the 2nd set blew me away. I don’t think they let up for a second. In particular, I encourage everyone to listen to the Drowned > Darien Jam > Caspian > Rift. Amazing work there by all.

Hartford is getting the buzz so far, but don’t let that deter any of you from listening to Darien!
