Setlist: Mike Gordon @ MHoW

Phish bassist Mike Gordon and his solo band kicked off their September tour at the Music Hall of Williamsburg last night with a show that included a number of songs from The Green Sparrow as well as Mike’s other solo offerings. The bassist also performed a number of covers, a few new tunes, an original penned by lead guitarist Scott Murawski and more.

Marco Benevento opened the show and later joined Cactus for the Craig Myers original Somaila and a cover of Desmond Dekker’s Intensified. Marco’s duo partner Joe Russo also sat-in with the Mike Gordon solo band for those two songs. Did anyone catch last night’s show? What did you think?

  1. Heard it was a blast and couldn’t make it, unfortunately. Did anyone make it to Brooklyn Bowl for the Rubblebucket after party? Did Gordon turn up?

  2. It was a great night all around, Mike sounded great as did Scott. I mean, you’re listening to Mike all night – how bad could it be? Few quick thoughts, before they played Swamp Music, Mike introduced it with something along the lines of “Skynard were big fans of Jeff Holdsworth” as the 2 songs/chord progressions are eerily similar. The Russo/Marco sitins were both great, although Mike’s own drummer/keys paled in comparison to having those guys out there. And the encore was real solid, especially when Mike came back out with a drink in his hand prompting him to say something akin to “Oh ya, forgot I’m allowed to drink on this tour.” Ba-zing!
