This past  Saturday night, aggro-untzers U-Melt treated the attendees at the Wormtown Festival to a special set in which they covered The Police’s legendary album Synchronicity in its entirety. Taper Rob Clarke captured the nearly flawless performance of the disc which was book-ended  by the U-Melt classic Through The Prism.

The show starts with a romp through the bold rocker Momentary Luminaries before the band starts Through The Prism.  Synchronicity Part 1 develops out of a rippin’ guitar-driven jam in Through The Prism and U-Melt does a nice job of adding their unique sound to the Police songs. For instance, O My God starts with swirling synth tones laid down by Zac Lasher and a few of Rob Salzer’s quickfire guitar runs. Lasher does a solid job with the vocals on most songs with King of Pain being a standout.

After tackling the penultimate song on Synchronicity, Tea In The Sahara, the quartet smoothly segues back into Through The Prism, saving Jimmy Swaggart’s favorite song, Murder By Numbers, for the encore. The other U-Melt original in the set, Green Amber, goes nearly 20 minutes giving the band members ample time to show off their impressive improvisational chops. All in all this is a must download for Police fans, U-Melt fans and those who want to give U-Melt a shot. Look for a soundboard recording at DigitalSoundboard.net soon.
