Intermezzo: Work For a Free ACL Ticket

With DSO’s lead guitarist John Kadlecik fresh off three debut dates of Furthur, the new band anchored by Bob Weir and Phil Lesh, Dark Star Orchestra has announced their 2010 New Year’s run of shows. The NYE mini-tour kicks off with shows at The Norva in Norfolk, VA on December 28 and The National in Richmond, VA on December 29.  2009 will be capped off with a two-night stand at Rams Head Live! in Baltimore, MD on December 30 and 31. Tickets include a champagne toast, finger foods, and party favors. A limited quantity of early bird tickets are on-sale now that will save Deadheads $36 off the door price. Fans can also kick up the NYE experience up a few notches with a NYE VIP Ticket which includes special DSO merchandise, champagne toast, finger foods, party favors, an exclusive viewing area and more. Dark Star Orchestra kicks off their Rex Caravan Fall Tour this weekend in Seattle at the Showbox on Thursday. To benefit Grateful Dead-founded The Rex Foundation, $1 from each ticket sold on this tour will go to directly support the work of this great organization – DSO has raised over $160,000 for the Rex Foundation since 2002.

The second night of DSO’s tour is the Rex Black Tie-Dye Ball, a gala event of music and charity is taking place this Friday, September 25 at The Crystal Ballroom in Portland, OR where all the proceeds for this fundraiser go to fund local grants that the Rex Foundation gives out to Portland area non-profits. Following the Rex Black Tie-Dye Ball and a second night at the Crystal Ballroom, the band heads south with stops in Eugene, OR and Chico, CA before landing in San Fran for three nights at the legendary Fillmore Auditorium. From there the bus rolls on to other of California with stops in Petaluma, Santa Cruz (for a rare and special acoustic set), Hollywood and San Diego. Then it’s a return to ‘Sin City’ as DSO turns ‘The Strip’ into Shakedown Street for one night only. DSO wraps the tour with a run including a two-night stand at The Depot in Salt Lake City and stops at Denver’s Fillmore and Fort Collins.
