  1. Love it! Great idea. Whittle it down to a handful by 10/30 so fans can get familiar- more enjoyable that way. Especially if they do something like Marquee Moon or one of the other less familiar picks. great idea though.

  2. for my money, as sick of an album as thriller is, i’ve heard a lot of acts try and cover it and just fall on their faces hitting the high notes… I think Janes addiction would be a cool common ground of modern/classic rock… although i’m probably wrong on them playing that one too

  4. Pretzel Logic would be amazing. Classic album. Meddle would make me poop my pants and Phish doing Tres Hombres would be ridiculous. They already have Jesus Left Chicago and La Grange down and that whole album is stellar.

  5. To hear Trey ripping Electric Lady Land and putting his spin on it would be incredible. Though to hear Mike play those opening notes of “one of these days” off Floyd’s Meddle would put shivers down my spine. Couldn’t see Neil Young’s Everyone Knows this is Nowhere b/c the Mother Hips Covered it fairly recently. My friend Dan predicted the Talking Heads Fear of Music. Seen a lot of heads lately in the phish/gordon world.

  6. Something tells me it’s going to be either X, Guns-N-Roses, or Hotel California. I think doing something distinctly SoCal would be very fitting and Phishy.

  7. i cant see it! there are too many people hittin up the site! the list is quite impressive, i think that bowie has the best chance with 3 albums. although they haven’t covered a solo artist yet, a four piece seems more their style, zep has to be a favorite, the doors would be appropriate given the setting

  8. Whatever they choose, this is an awesome list of albums. Of the handful of these albums that I don’t know, I am going to introduce myself to and expand my musical horizons. Thanks, Phish.

  9. it said in the phish book that was published that they once considered doing Van Halen (Van Halen) with David Lee Roth on vocals…

I’m leaning towards an album by Bowie, Zappa or the Basement tapes –

  10. I could see them doing the self titled The Doors album. The Doors are a California band and have a similar instrument line up (minus the bass player of course)…..plus I could see Page ripping the intro of “Light My Fire” and Trey going off lyrically on “The End” a la “Icculus”.

  11. Please not Thiller. That album has some real clunkers on Side 1. Everybody remembers the hits, but forgets “Baby Be Mine” “The Girl is Mine” and “The Lady in My Life.”

I’d love to hear “The Basement Tapes” or “Meddle.”

  12. Say what you will, but seeing Forever Changes on that list really makes me think that it is in the running. Its an incredible album, recorded by an LA-based, basically at the time underground band and has some great lines like “Served my time, served it well.”

I like many others on that list, but Forever Changes is my #1.

  13. I’ve been hoping for Ween since the beginning…
Even though it probably isn’t, I can still hope.

    Come on White Pepper!!!

However white pepper is an odd choice when the mollusk is a better choice in my opinion.
Seriously guys, could you imagine? Phish covering The Mollusk? That would be epic…

  14. Going to have to say there is some awesome music on there.. if they were to break out ‘Yellow Brick Road’ or ‘Lamb Lies Down on Broadway’ it would be sick…

… but the costume that I would love to see is Kiss Alive II and them coming out in full Kiss gear.

Can’t wait to see… see you all there.
