As we eagerly await My Morning Jacket’s return from a year-plus hiatus, Jim James has kept himself busy during the downtime. First as a member of Monsters Of Folk and now with his latest project – the launch of his very own record label. The MMJ front man, along with his cousin Johnny Quaid, will launch Removador Recordings & Solutions which will roll out their first of three planned albums on January 19 via their digital-only platform.
In other MMJ-related news, Jim James will play a special Valentine’s Day solo show at Rathskeller in Louisville, KY to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Louisville Is For Lovers where everyone in attendance will receive a special Valentine’s Day rose courtesy of Mr. James.

Finally, later this month Magic Hat’s will launch their new spring seasonal offering Vinyl Lager. If the the artwork on the label of this amber-colored lager, which will have a sweet malty taste, looks familiar that’s because it was designed by none other than longtime Phish concert poster artist and local Vermont resident Jim Pollock. The beer will be featured in the brewery’s Spring Fever variety pack, as well as on its own in 6- and 12- packs for a limited time – so pick some up before it’s all gone.
