Last Week’s Sauce: March 1st – 7th

Artist & Title: Lettuce – Sam Huff’s Flying Raging Machine
Date & Venue: 2010-03-04 Brooklyn Bowl, Brooklyn NY
Taper & Show Download: Frank D’Auria

In case you missed it, Carla Danca and Jeremy Gordon made a good case for why our New York City readers should make it out to one of the Soulive shows at Brooklyn Bowl this week. Funny thing about a Soulive gig, you’re always just a few musician switches away from a Lettuce reunion breaking out. If you’re one of our Colorado readers, you can catch Lettuce and Soulive at the Royal Family Ball May 14th-15h at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom.

There is a lot of great video on YouTube from the shows already, here is the cast of characters performing some Tears For Fears:

Artist & Title: Railroad Earth – Hard Livin’
Date & Venue: 2010-03-06 Penn’s Peak, Jim Thorpe PA
Taper & Show Download: Jamie Dubs

Railroad Earth has been out on the road with their new bass player Andrew Altman (no relation to Sammy). The band has also recently issued a pretty serious package titled Retrospective. RRE next play Friday March 26th at Toad’s Place in New Haven.

Some recent video from Railroad Earth that is just a little older than “last week”:

Artist & Title: Stockholm Syndrome – Apollo
Date & Venue: 2010-03-02 Crystal Ballroom, Portland OR
Taper & Show Download: Taper Jeff

Last month Stockholm Syndrome released a 7-song EP recorded live at Streetlight Records in Santa Cruz last September. So if you like what you hear, be sure to check that out. Stockholm Syndrome play tonight at The Orpheum Theater in Flagstaff.

Video from two nights later:

Artist & Title: Wilco – Bull Black Nova, You Are My Face
Date & Venue: 2010-03-03 Halifax Forum, Halifax Nova Scotia
Taper & Show Download: Andrew Butler

This two song sequence combines my favorite tracks from Wilco’s 2007 release Sky Blue Sky and the 2009 Wilco [The Album]. It’s incredible the quality of songwriting that Tweedy has maintained 15 years removed from the first Wilco studio record. Wilco next plays Monday March 22nd in Miami. In the meantime, frontman Jeff Tweedy will be playing two solo acoustic shows at Chicago’s Vic Theater March 12th & 13th. The solo gigs will benefit Chicago Youth Scholarships.

While I couldn’t find any Wilco videos from last week, I did find this amazing cover of Handshake Drugs:
