Mountain Jam Finale: Levon Helm’s 70th

2010 has been a big year for 70th birthdays as Phil Lesh celebrated his 70th with his friends a few weeks back while Levon Helm will celebrate his 70th with his friends as part of the finale at the Sixth Annual Mountain Jam on June 6th. For a set billed as Levon Helm and Friends, the legendary drummer – and local hero – will be joined by an impressive array of talented musicians.

Ray LaMontagne, Steve Earle and Jackie Greene are coming to Hunter Mountain to be a part of the celebration and play with Levon. Also joining in on what’s sure to be a special set will be Allison Moorer, Gov’t Mule guitarist and festival co-presenter Warren Haynes, Patterson Hood of the Drive-By Truckers and his father David Hood. Event organizers expect to announce more guests in the coming weeks.

Mountain Jam producers also announced the addition of 27-time Grammy Winners Alison Krauss and Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas to the bill. The festival kicks off on June 4th and runs until the 6th in Hunter, NY. Three-day tickets ($166.50 w/camping, $141.50 w/o) and single day tickets for Saturday ($79) and Sunday ($89) are available at mountainjam.com.
