Pullin’ ‘Tubes: SMMD Makes Lemonade

As my grandfather used to tell me, “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade,” which is exactly what the members of Surprise Me Mr. Davis did when the group’s Nathan Moore and Marc Friedman were turned away at the Canadian border on the way to record together. Instead of bagging the session, the group reassembled at a friend’s (local musician Brett Hughes) house in Burlington and recorded a batch of raw, energetic tracks. Seven tracks from those sessions will finally see the light of day on Tuesday when they are released as the That Man Eats Morning For Breakfast EP.

Not only does Tuesday see the release of the EP, but it also marks the beginning of five-date Northeast run featuring stops at Club Passim in Boston on the 13th, Red Square in Albany on the 14th, Firehouse 13 in Providence on the 15th, Brooklyn’s Union Hall on the 16th and the Mercury Lounge in Manhattan on the 17th. For a taste of what you can expect at these shows – and on the EP – here’s the video for I’m No Good at All…
