If you’ve ever wondered what an animated version of Widespread Panic would look like, wonder no more as we’ll get to see John Bell’s multi-colored beard and Jojo’s signature baseball cap in all its glory when the band appears on the season premiere of Cartoon Network’s Squidbillies during Adult Swim on Sunday night, May 16 at midnight.

Squidbillies tells the tale of the debaucherous Cuyler’s family of squid who live in the North Georgia mountains not too far from Panic’s hometown of Athens. The group visits Dougal County after the discovery of Lil’s secret drug operation. This fifth season of Squidbillies will finish with a 30 minute musical episode featuring Drive-By Truckers, Lucinda Williams, and Bonnie “Prince” Billy among others. Widespread Panic has a long relationship with Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim as they penned an original tune for Perfect Hair Forever and a few Aqua Teen Hunger Force characters helped ring in 2006 at the Philips Arena.
