Tour Dates: Spin Celebrates 25 Years

While traditional print media seems slowly to be going the way of the 8-track, we’re happy to note that Spin Magazine is in the midst of celebrating its 25th Anniversary. As a way of celebrating the milestone, the influential music mag, which has seen its ups and downs over the years, has announced that they will be curating a series of live music shows that will take place from July 26 – 30 in the mag’s hometown of New York City.

The music marathon, which totals 25 hours of music, will feature shows from the Smashing Pumpkins (7/26), The Flaming Lips (7/27), The Black Keys (7/28) and The National (7/28) all at Terminal 5, while shoe-gazers Spiritualized will take the stage for a special show at Radio City Music Hall to play Ladies & Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space in its entirety. Additional acts will be announced in the coming weeks, while the entire run will be webcast via the magazine’s website.

If you can’t make to New York City for this special run of shows, than maybe you’ll be able to hit one of these recently announced tours…

Finally, this summer ’80s new-wave act The Go-Go’s were to close the final chapter of their career with the Happily Ever After farewell tour that reunited the band’s original lineup. The band has now had to cancel the entire tour due to injuries sustained by guitarist Jane Wiedlin, who fell 20-feet in a  hiking accident. The 12-city run was set to kick off with an appearance at Lilith Fair on July 7 and also included a spot as part of Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series. Guess Happily Ever After will have to wait.
