Friday Mix Tape: Joyful Noise

This week’s theme is a little looser than most Friday Mix Tapes, as it’s a collection of fun party time music from all over the map, as opposed to a cohesive theme. This week, we’re simply focusing on just getting in the mood for a fun summer weekend.

We kick off with the crowd pleasing Robert Randolph jam that puts smiles on everyones’ faces, The March, from Live at the Wetlands. Next, we hit on one of Michael Franti’s most festive tunes, Everybody on a Move from his powerful Middle East inspired album, Yell Fire! From here, we take a U-turn and head straight back for a four-pack from the ’80s. We got Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper, DeBarge’s guilty pleasure hit, Rhythm of the Night, Dreams by Van Halen, and finally, NWA’s knockout sample of Charles Wright’s eponymous soul classic, Express Yourself.
