This Weekend: Solid Sound Festival

From Friday to Sunday, Wilco and its fans will take over the campus of MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA for the Chicago-based band’s first festival. The Solid Sound Festival will feature a Saturday night set from Wilco as well as an event-closing set billed as “Jeff Tweedy Solo Plus.” Other performers include Avi Buffalo, Vetiver, Mavis Staples and a slew of Wilco side-projects such as The Nels Cline Singers and The Autumn Defense.

This weekend’s fest is not only about the music. There will also be Yoga sessions, workshops and a Wilco-curated film series. Plus, the regular exhibits at the renowned museum will be open to festival attendees. Of particular note is the debut the of two Wilco-related exhibits: Nels Cline’s interactive guitar pedal exhibit, the Solid Sound Stompbox Station, and an interactive drumhead exhibit by Glenn Kotche.

The action starts on Friday at 8PM with a set by Pronto. Tickets to the event are still available through the festival’s website. For $91 you get entry to the festival for the entire weekend, access to all MASS MoCA galleries and exhibits and parking. Not a bad deal. Our own Jeff Greenblatt will be in the house, so follow his Twitter feed to keep up with the Solid Sound Festival.
