Back in 2008, around the time the lovable Gemma Hayes released The Hollow of Morning, I remember taking a stroll over to the Mercury Lounge on a weeknight by myself to watch her perform. Overall, the set was quite impressive, but there was this one song that knocked it out of the park. This solemn number called Oliver absolutely stupefied everyone in attendance. I later bought the album only to wonder, “Why on Earth wasn’t that song Oliver included?” Well, I guess I wasn’t the only person thinking along those lines, as a year later Gemma released Oliver on an EP of the same name.
