Lee Johnson’s Dead Symphony #6 made its debut in 2008 and two years later the composer has retooled the piece – which encompasses some of the Grateful Dead’s best melodies and jams – just in time for a hometown performance with the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra at Callaway Auditorium in LaGrange, GA on October 6. Johnson will actually perform with the orchestra as a member of the cello section.
Visit the orchestra’s website for ticketing information.

Finally, old school Jersey jam band From Good Homes reunited for a smattering of shows over the past 10 months including a pair last December at the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, NJ. The group had such a good time that they will continue this lengthy “reunion” on December 17 and 18 at the Wellmont. We sure hope this turns into a yearly tradition for the band.
