Notes: Though the band came out in position for Walfredo, they were forced to pause due to technical difficulties. For the second show in a row, several breakouts dotted the setlist: Walfredo (first since February 22, 1997, or 248 shows), Esther (August 9, 1998, 146 shows), Forbin’s and Mockingbird (August 7, 1998, 148 shows), A Day in the Life (July 3, 1998, 170 shows), and Emotional Rescue (July 28, 1998, 155 shows). The Forbin’s narration referenced the band’s upcoming hiatus. I Didn’t Know included a reference to Kid Rock’s sidekick Joe C. Esther featured flubbed lyrics for the final verse, ending with Trey proclaiming: “She died. Dead.” As the band returned for the second set, the crowd serenaded Trey with Happy Birthday. Emotional Rescue included a bizarre synchronized duel on-stage between Trey and Mike. This show was released in its entirety as the band’s first full concert DVD, Live in Vegas.

  1. The Vegas Trey shows were freakin off the hook. My buddies and I knew we were in for something special when we were up at 4am on the 29th, spun and gambling and ran into Trey, Fishman, Kid Rock, and three hot chicks at the roulette table. My bro Josh coax Fish into matching his bet of $1,000 on the roulette table and he did. Both of them lost and Fishman shook his head, said “thanks dick” and walked away. We spent the rest of the day trying to figure out what they’d play with Kid Rock…awesome shows, plus moe late night at the House of Blues…great weekend. They need to do that again…

  2. I realize that I was talking about the show before his Bday but still an awesome weekend…the Bathtub, Spocks Brain, Mellow Mood from 9/29/00 1st set are off the hook…

  3. I called the Spocks Brain whilst pre-showing at the Luxor that night. Still have the piece of paper while gambling on setlists. Truth be told, I called Spocks Brain at every show I went to leading up to that night. Ahhh, the love affair with Spocks Brain dating back to 6.20.95……
