Friday Mix Tape: Covering Ween

For this week’s Friday Mix Tape we scoured the Live Music Archive for six bands covering Ween and after a few bouts with the advance search feature we came up with six awesome tracks to share with you.

Ha Ha The Moose – a moe. side project who just started a Facebook page – give us Voodoo Lady from the first moe.down. Next, RAQ provides a cover of Push The Lil Daises from Charleston’s Pour House in 2006. We then turn to the Benevento-Russo Duo for their version of Birthday Boy from Sullivan Hall on January 2. Minneapolis jammers God Johnson deliver a more by-the-book take on Roses Are Free than Phish with this tune coming from GJ’s November 25th, 2009 show at The Caboose. Missouri-based jammers Mississippi Flapjacks give L.M.L.Y.P. a hard rock edge while Deadman Flats finish us off with a bluegrass-tinged cover of Spinal Meningitis.

  1. If that didn’t give you your fill of ween cover, come to three20south in Breckenridge CO for a trip through chocolate town by Harmonious Junk on 10/30/10.Also look for Deadman Flats
    down here in January

  2. Mike,

Grooveshark didn’t have any of these songs in its library and I really wanted to present a mix of bands covering Ween. Since Imeem closed I haven’t found a site to embed mixes that I really like besides Grooveshark, but I’m at the mercy of that site’s library. Should be back to embeds next week and I’ll do another search for an Imeem replacement.

  3. Mike,

Figured out how to upload to Grooveshark, got five of the six tracks embedded as had some trouble with the Duo track.
