Last Week’s Sauce: Sept. 27th – Oct. 3rd

Grace Potter & The Nocturnals – Hot Summer, Paris
Date & Venue: 2010-09-28 Ogden Theatre – Denver, CO
Taper & Show Download: Cooze & Root

Grace Potters warns the crowd things are about to get extra hot onstage and then she welcomes Sharon Jones to the stage. Couldn’t find a recording of the DAP Kings set so I can’t tell you if the invitation was reciprocated later on in the night. Grace Potter & The Nocturnals [tour dates] play tonight at Neumeier’s Rib Room and Beer Garden in Forth Smith, AR.

The band played The Ellen show earlier this week, video below:

Jazz Mandolin Project – Reich’s Boogie
Date & Venue: 2010-10-01 Westcott Theater – Syracuse, NY
Taper & Show Download: Steven Weld

On the official setlist for the September 24th Jazz Mandolin Project show it says “debut of live performance” next to this tune. That’s pretty crazy considering the song was released on the album Jungle Tango more than seven years ago. In addition to leader Jamie Masfield, the current touring band for JMP features Peter Apfelbaum, Scott Ritchie and Mark Guiliana. No tourdates are currently scheduled for The Jazz Mandolin Project.

Tim O’Brien & Bryan Sutton – I’m The Man Who Loves You, Senor (Tales Of Yankee Power)
Date & Venue: 2010-10-01 Chandler Music Hall – Randolph, VT
Taper & Show Download: Patrick Harvey

Tim O’Brien is keeping himself pretty hip. I was surprised to see this Wilco Cover on this fantastic SBD recording while perusing setlists last week. For a split second I thought he was super-crazy-hip when I saw “The High Road” but after I listened, I realized it was not the Broken Bells tune. Also featured here is a Bob Dylan cover which O’Brien also recorded on a great record of Dylan Covers titled Red On Blonde. Tim O’Brien [tour dates] plays tonight with Bryan Sutton at the Paramount Center for the Arts in Bristol, VA.
