Young Dubliners has been around for 21 years, and their newest release, Saints and Sinners, is an example of why they’ll be around for another couple of decades. Traditional rock guitar, drums and bass mix with violin, keyboard, harp, mandolin, pipe and even pennywhistle to provide an eclectic, "Celtic Rock" experience. Each of the twelve tracks is a vibrant powerhouse, but "Saoirse" is where the band shows off their Irish roots most clearly, weaving mandolin beginnings with rock interludes. The rowdy tempo soars without the need for vocals, saving the lyrical play for the album centerpiece, "This Time," and the driving force of "My Town," when Keith Roberts and company sing of never giving up. It’s a good motto coming from some old Irish American boys that have been rocking since ’88.
