Jeff Lynne’s ELO Plans Three Hollywood Bowl Shows

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association announced today that Jeff Lynne’s ELO is set to perform three shows at the Hollywood Bowl for the Fireworks Finale on September 9, 10 & 11. Joined by the strings of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, conducted by Thomas Wilkins, these concerts mark the first time the band has played at the iconic venue. With the exception of a club show to celebrate the release of the album, this is also the first time Jeff Lynne’s ELO has performed in Los Angeles in nearly 30 years.

On November 13, 2015, Jeff Lynne’s ELO released Alone In The Universe on Columbia Records, the first album of all-new music released by the band in over a decade. The album received critical and fan praise alike, prompting NPR to hail the first single, “When I Was a Boy,” as “vintage ELO, with Lynne’s signature chord progressions, string flourishes and a wistful but infectious melody.” Of the album, Rolling Stone raved, “Lynne definitely picked the right moment to reactivate ELO, waiting until he had a top-notch album ready to go — the excellent new Alone In The Universe, their finest since 1981’s Time.”

As with ELO’s previous chart-topping albums, Jeff Lynne continues to serve as ELO’s producer, songwriter, arranger, lead singer and guitarist. In September 2014, for the first time in 30 years, Jeff Lynne’s ELO headlined BBC Radio 2’s “Festival In A Day” in London’s famous Hyde Park to a sold-out crowd of 50,000 fans in attendance, and nearly a million people tuned in to watch.

Tickets for the Hollywood Bowl 2016 summer season will be available online at HollywoodBowl.com or via phone at 323.850.2000 on the following dates:
