The Austin, Texas area has yet ANOTHER festival. Sound on Sound Festival (SOS Fest) has announced the full music lineup for the inaugural event to be held November 4-6 at Sherwood Forest Faire just east of Austin in McDade, Texas. The debut of Sound on Sound Fest will include a wide variety of music acts spanning many genres and personal tastes, as well as comedy stand-ups, panel sessions, on-site camping, and more, all across three days in the heart of Central Texas. Beach House will headline the inaugural fest in support of the band’s two critically acclaimed albums released last year, Depression Cherry and Thank Your Lucky Stars; alongside Austin’s Explosions in the Sky, as they perform in support of their seventh studio album, The Wilderness, released this April; and electronic rock duo Phantogram, who are set to release their third album, Three, later this September.
Sound on Sound Fest will also welcome the following performers: Run The Jewels; Purity Ring; r Courtney Barnett; acclaimed rapper and one half of the hip-hop group Outkast, Big Boi; original California punk rockers Descendents, who are set to release their long-awaited follow up album, Hypercaffium Spazzinate, this July after a twelve-year recording hiatus, and Mac DeMarco. SOS Fest will also host two rare reunion performances from Thursday, one of the most influential bands of the post-hardcore music scene, andT he Monkeywrench, featuring Austin icon and former Big Boys guitarist, Tim Kerr, who are currently scheduled to perform only two US shows this year.
Additional acts at the inaugural Sound on Sound Fest include a diverse mix of nationally acclaimed and up-and-coming performers, including Death Grips, Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires, Wale,FLAG (featuring members Keith Morris, Bill Stevenson, Chuck Dukowski, and Dez Cadena, as well as the Descendents’ Stephen Egerton), A-Trak, Guided By Voices, FIDLAR, Dead Milkmen, Cursive,Bob Mould, Youth Of Today (featuring the full band from 1988, including the original founders Ray Coppo and John Porcelly, as well as Walter Schreifels and Sammy Siegler), Jagwar Ma, Boys Noize,STRFKR, Wild Nothing, Carcass, Aesop Rock, Thundercat, Shannon and the Clams, Baio, Denzel Curry, and more than 40 other performers from across the globe
Beyond all of the music offerings at the fest, Sound on Sound Fest will offer ticket-buyers a truly unique festival experience at the beloved Sherwood Forest Faire. Located just east of Austin and set in the beautiful Lost Pines region of Central Texas, Sherwood Forest Faire is a 23-acre permanent renaissance village that features over 100 permanent buildings including shoppes, pubs, restaurants and stages, many of which will be utilized in creating a highly-curated festival footprint and experience for attendees of all ages.
